I imagine for some people it is. My reality, though, is that I am not too interested in it. I took the job because 1.) My previous job (first one out of school) was a 60 mile round trip daily and 2.) much of it took place at a landfill. I wanted something design oriented in the electrical engineering field. Where I work now is 3.5 miles from home in center city Philly. My duties are mostly drawing creation/review/revision and making sure everything fits within the FAA specifications. Zero creative work, which I didn't even know I wanted until now.
The hopeful news is this: recently I got to thinking: What do I
love? Not like, not tolerate, but really love? Well sh*t, that's easy: bikes! So I sent a resume to a local bike manufacturer and scored an interview. I go back Wednesday for a follow-up interview! Next month I will be designing bikes. Eff you airports! Wish me luck y'all.
