Which Bike to Couple (XO-1 or Miyata 912)
Not like that, get your mind out of the gutter.
I want to install SS couplers on one of my bikes. I'm hoping
the foldability will make the bike more transit friendly and lead
to me driving less. Uncle Sam kicked down his "stimulus check"
so why not spend it on bikes?
Having a hard time deciding between putting the couplers
on the Miyata 912 or the Bridgestone XO-1. Strongly leaning
towards the Miyata. I love both bikes, but a bike that is ridden
and used for commuting a lot is sort of by definition a utilitarian steed.
The Miyata is slightly less nice than the XO-1 (not that I love either less).
It would be easier to find another Miyata if it was stolen. The replacement cost
of an XO-1 with couplers is much higher. I don't plan on letting the bike
get stolen, but frequent use increases this possibilty by mere fact of
exposure to the sturm und drang of commuting, locking to poles, leaving
in bike rooms at work. . .
