I just wanted a sturdy set of wheels so that the bike in question (2007 Electra Amsterdam Classic 3) can become reliable as a 2nd commuter bike, with finer-grained gear intervals. I had wanted the Alfine rear hub, but LBS' tell me 'no can get in the USA', which conflicts with my own research.
I can get all of the above parts, have a wheelsmith build the wheel, all within 10 working days. You must be dealing with an LBS in poor standing with Shimano USA.
