I had a trek 5200 and after 8 years i broke the frame. I am no longer a wanna be racer n my late 20's.. I am a Dad the does the 20 mile club ride witha tab and snacks. Plus i use it for all my in town errends since i currently use the intertubes to get to work.
I went to the bike shop i wanted a bike that is Fast i.e. i need to pick the kids up from school in 10 mins and its 2 miles up a hill. Get me to and from my dojo in 15 mins (4 miles) The Fuji crank set is the ONLY touring bike with a 52 tooth big ring. (BTW this is bad from a pure touring bike standpoint as if the bike was loaded for a tour this would be a too big of ring)
Spare Spoke holders on left bottom stay are a nice touch
I find the tires are outstanding the stuff that i used to avoid now i can just plow through some of it.
handeling: There is a very fine line between responsive and twithcy the 5200 lived on that line. this bike is responvive and steerr wehre you think the bike should go but dont think about it tooo late.
road side jusnk hat i used to dance around no i have to pick a steady course. not better or worse just different.
Disadvantages... the carbon frame LAUNCHED for 0-15 mph in 3 pedel strokes. This bike likes a nice rolling start to get up to speed. Even when i am alone When i have the TAB on with kid i am towing an extra 65 lbs. so top end acceleration and braking are skewed.
i heard a few years back fuji had a spoke issue. but this was resolved apperently with fuji replacement wheels and a change at the factory for the newer models.
SEAT rail bolt has come loose twice.
Mine was just under 900 out the door.
So far 4 weeks and 250 miles. i am happy with it... i get some looks from the weekend warrriors on lower end road bikes.. lemonds etape specialized allez and robeuix's and i can drop them with the tab. But i wonder how much it that s what it not a trek or specialed and its not frech or italian. but they dont matter.
tried speelling sucks sorry.
