Has anyone done this? Well, yes, everyone who ever toured before the invention of the distinction did. The difference between "road bike" and "touring bike" is mostly marketing. There are few "road bikes" that are inappropriate for touring; your bike is not one of them.

And the "if it doesn't have eyelets, you can't tour on it" myth strikes again! There are any number of racks and mounting systems that don't rely on braze-on eyelets. Search this forum, or simply take your bike to a shop and ask them to put a rack on it.
