the motobecane would be a vast upgrade to that toy bike, but before you go ahead and buy it have you checked out your LBS? the best part of buying a new bike is test riding all the various models out there. that way you end up with a bike that will actually fit you. the sales people at most bike shops are rather friendly and helpful.
