jamis aurora...bad choice?

so i was looking at getting this used jamis aurora...and i started searching for reviews. most of them were quite good...except i ran into his little tid bit...

"Also, the FSA crankset is geared a bit tall for loaded riding in hilly areas. The 130mm BCD precludes just swapping to smaller rings. Replacing the crank also means replacing the BB, b/c it's a proprietary FSA design that only works with ONE crankset- the one you've got."

that seems to make the aurora a bad choice...?

thoughts?

also...it has STI's, not bar-ends...is that a no-no? will that get in the way of a handlebar bag? are they more prone to mechanical issues?

also...only room for two bottle cages. is that a unsupported long tour no-no as well?
