After decades of sub $1,000 bikes I got a $2,000 bike (and wanted the near $5,000 Rock n' Road). I get in a lot more riding now so I feel I am justifying the extra $$$. If you get 5 times the mileage out of the pricier bike it is just as worthy as the less expensive bike.
