OK seriously, there is some merit to that (repeating something to make it happen, not Snuffleupagus being a girl) but you have to know your place in the meantime. Just like EDR, I'm not resigning to be pack fodder for the rest of my life, but I know by 5 to go if I have a chance at placing or not. Although I expect to win a race in the next few years, I don't think it's going to happen my first season back after a 12 year lapse.
