I firmly believe that Weinmanns are on par with "real" Deep Vs--until someone comes up with an independent, empirical, scientific test on strength differences they will both last the lifetime of your bike and look just fine.
cue endless bashing and anecdotal evidence of destroying weinmanns in one day.
edit: I argued this with Oh No before and one has to remember I am strictly talking about the rims themselves. Build quality is entirely dependent and it's no doubt a hand-built wheel will stay true longer and be stiffer than a machine-made Weinmann/Formula. But rim-to-rim they are remarkably similar.
Uh yeah, they're both cheap double-wall rims with the same rim design (no additional joints / sleeves) and aero profile. On that note, the price of deep-Vs has gone up considerably over the past 2 years, they now cost almost $40 through J&B (not retail) while the DP-18s are somewhat close to $20 (again dealer side)
