Zen Moments after Taking Time off
A few weeks ago, I was getting to the point where I really didn't want to ride much anymore. I just couldn't make myself do it. I felt bad about it at first, but decided that I should just take a few weeks off of the heavy training schedule I was ridng before (from about 250-300 miles per week back then, down to about 50 miles per week). I've just been putting in a lot of miles again in the past week, and I have to say that taking the time off was teh best thing I have ever done! Today, I was cruising down a deserted country road, iPod in one ear, listening to the Grateful Dead, staring at blaze orange trees and crisp, blue skies, smelling bonfires, and cruising along at around 26-28 mph the whole way. I kept having these moments that seemed to last forever where I could have just fallen asleep on the bike. Everything just felt right, legs were spinning the 53-14 just beautifully, and I was FAST!! It was really nice to just kick back and enjoy everything that made love riding in the first place. Anyone else ever have this renewed passion for their bike after taking some time off? It was wonderful!
