Wow! Now that is a fantastic story!

Welcome to the C&V Bikeforum.

I'm not as old as some of the folks here who treasure the electro-forged schwinns. They were disappearing just as I was becoming a teenager--about the time the mountain bike was coming into mass production.

I love cycling, but my main love is mechanics and aesthetics. To me the electro-forged schwinns represent the last gasp of classic bicycle style and elegance in mass production and for mass consumption, before the --sorry people--buttugliness of mountain bikes, sloping top tubes, oversizing, ovalizing, tig welds, and screaming corporate logos, not to mention many hideous color choices, of the 1980s and 1990s.

Plus, you can't beat the high kinetic energy of a rolling varsity -- and with those steel rims, you can't stop anyway, so you might as well just keep on TRUCKIN!!
