My dogs use a harness, but I've been fixing the leash to the back of trailer and leaving enough slack that they could lay down, which, unfortunately, also leaves just enough slack to get a paw out the front of the trailer and to the ground. Some sort of tether attached to the floor of the trailer might fix that problem as I wouldn't have to leave as much slack. Thanks for the reply. I see a trip to Lowes in my future.
With a car seat belt harness and a shackle attaced to it under the belly you can attach it to the floor and possibly do what you want. It's easier with a dog with short legs to let him move around,but not stick a leg out. Here's the fastener under him that connects to the swivel in the floor of the trike basket.
