I left at 5:20 AM this morning so it was still dark when I got to work at 6:30! First time I rode the whole morning in the dark. There were very few cars the first half of my ride. If one were opposed to rolling through red lights, one would likely reconsider at that time of morning! I myself blew through plenty. Temp was 60 F, had a slight tailwind, which turned into a moderate headwind when I hit the ocean. I was wearing a vest and arm warmers, which turned out to be just right.

Saw 4 wrong-way cyclists with no lights along the way. If one of these guys were to get hit, would that really be a bad reflection on the rest of us? I don't think so. People in cars probably think we're geniuses compared to them.

Just before I got to San Clemente I saw a red blinker ahead and poured it on to catch up with him. I did catch him, and waved just before I turned inland for 2 miles of climbing. Not too smart. Especially with a heavy backpack. I usually bring clothes and food in my car on Mondays, but it is supposed to rain tomorrow (again!) so I rode today.
