Scooters are fun and they are fine for commuting and shopping, but due to the current market I think you can get a lot more for your money buying a used small motorcycle. Where I work you have to go down a private road for 6 miles and bicycles are not allowed (traffic and security issues). A new 250cc scooter will run you $4000 and for that you can get a motorcycle that will haul 2 people easily. I have been riding my sons motorcyle to work and it is fun.
