My 143mm Toupe is a little wide for me so I experience some rubbing until my butt breaks in. I use chamois cream pretty generously though. I usually apply it to the entire pad and directly to my skin. Feels disgusting when you're suiting up but after a mile or so you don't notice it and it helps considerably.
I know in the road forums folks have posted home made recipes for chamois cream that they swear by.
