Bikes: Gary Fisher Tassajara hardtail mtb, '01 Rans Wave, '98 Raleigh R700, Mid-80's Takara Professional, '91 Bianchi Alfana

1. What type of bikes do 50+ folks ride?

I have a Gary Fisher Tassajara with road tires.

2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older?
Just a multi vitamin and added zinc. I seem to eat a bit more ibuprofen than I used to though!


3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any?
I'm not really as slow now as I was 5 years ago working a desk job exclusively!


4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life?
I had a nice road bike 30 some odd years ago that I loved. I am just getting back into cycling after a long hiatus.


5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides. I'm riding about 10 miles a day, short rec rides in preparation to start commuting 7 miles one way to work. I've been riding around my neighborhood initially, then out some country roads to neighboring communities, and around town some, trying to get more fit, and having a ball in the process!

6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage?
Not sure yet. Like I said, I'm trying around 10 miles a day for about 4 weeks right now, but I'm already itching to go further.

7. I've been working out in the company gym for the last year an hour a day, 3-5 days a week. In that time I've lost 38 pounds. A 3 stent Angioplasty 3 years ago prompted the change. I'm still overweight, but I feel great and I'm still losing weight slowly.

Perhaps you might indicate your age on your reply?? I'm 51
