Trick that always worked for me is just do it a t a comfortable pace. Even if it meant crwling or falling behind the others. SO WHAT! Sooner or later it gets easier. Sometimes I do the dreaded hill when I know I'm having a bad day just to prove that I can. If I can do it on a bad day, I can do it on a good day!
