+1 to roof racks. I like Yak and Thule (though Thule fits are more precise). Yak, Thule, or Rocky Mounts are great mounts for the base rack.

The only garage incident I've had was when a contractor violated the posted clearance when I drove through, and some hanging cables caught my saddle.

I've never forgotten it's up there and driven where I shouldn't, not in 11 years with a roof rack.

It's nice to be able to drift my TSX out of a curve if I want, and not worry about the bikes on top. Trunk and hitch racks generally just aren't that positive.
