I'm a big proponent of roof racks, but I noticed this rack today in one of my thrice-weekly Nashbar catalogs:



Seems much more secure than most hitch racks that I've seen, plus it appears you can use a locking skewer to make the bike much more difficult to steal. AND it's relatively cheap at $150.
