Check your chain tension. I find a lot of people on their first builds go waaaaay too tight. I definitely did at first, a little slack is a good thing and will likely make your bike run a little quieter and won't likely wear down your components as quickly. At the same time, too much slack and you're dropping chains and you don't want that either! Finding the perfect balance may take a little time but you'll know when you've found it.
