I can't offer advice on these two bikes from personal experience, but just wanted to throw in how great it is to hear how much you are riding and that you and your husband will have this to share. For what it's worth, I also have an orbea (an onix) that I absolutely love.

As for the bikes, I believe the components are similar on both. The CAAD9 frame has quite a following on this board; I just haven't heard about the Scott. I would recommend that your husband go look at both, ride both & pick the one that is most appealing to him.
