Clicking sounds can come from a variety of places as noted and can be very frustrating. Sometimes the click comes from some other place than where is SOUNDS like it is coming.

Partial list of possibilities:

Bottom bracket
Crankarms
Chainring bolts
Pedals
Cleats
Headset
Bars
Shifters
Seatpost
Saddle
Cassette

Clicks can be coming from the connecting points for all of these. Start with what you think it is, adjusting, lubing and tightening to spec. Replace if necessary. Work your way around until it is gone...hopefully.
