I usually see 10 (or less) other bike commuters and I very rarely encounter a bike commuter going in my direction (I’m fortunate to ride well before rush hours). And now I’m totally guessing , but I may see 400 cars during my afternoon commute which means I would be sharing my “bike space” with 100 other riders.

A reduction of only one in four cars means I still have to stay in the bike lanes, where present, but now I’m sharing those bike lanes with many more riders. Some are slowing me down, and some are dogging my wheel trying to pass. Certain bottlenecks, like a section of park bike paths I'm forced to ride, could well become problematic with more bike traffic.

I don’t think 25% of auto commuters switching to bike commuting would be a major disaster for me, but how about where you commute?
