Two men on a cycling trip were struck and killed by a car in Manitoba on Sunday, RCMP said.

The men, one from British Columbia and the other from Quebec, were hit just after noon on the Trans-Canada Highway by a Honda Civic car near Virden, a town about 300 kilometres west of Winnipeg.

The Quebec man's children, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl, were also injured in the accident and taken to Virden Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The names of the four victims have not be disclosed pending notification of family members.

Police said alcohol was not a factor in the accident that involved a 27-year-old male driver from Virden.

Police remain on the scene to investigate and they are re-routing traffic
