will definitely try a long long screw first.
here's the response I got from Dahon. Doesn't make any sense but at least you know you don't have to bother w/ them.
"The Dahon Spanninga taillight is designed to fit on the reflector bracket of our rear racks. We do not make a bracket for the seat post, as the seat post pushes down to support the bike when folded."
