I commute on mine 24 miles a day and I love it.
I don't carry much to work and use a hipbone.

I'm pretty sure they make pretty skinny fenders these days and the frame is one of the lightest I've ever lifted. It's tough and the wheels are made for potholes.

I'd change out the seat if you're not wearing roadie clothes though.
