That sounds similar to my seatpost.
On mine, the rear screw is used to loosen the seat to move fore/aft..adn if you keep unscrewing it, the top metal plate can be lifted up. Once you lift it up, you rotate it so that you can see the rail for the seat, wiggle the seat until the rails move clear of the top metal plate and remove...

The front screw is a "thumbscrew" that you can loosen once you have loosened the rear screw. It is used to control tilt of the seat...
