I read the article and the comments both. Most of the comments are, surprisingly, very supportive of the biker. One of the comments came from someone who had spoken to one of the fire responders to the accident. It appears that the truck not only hit the rider, but more or less ran over his head.

I sure hope the guy recovers and is able to get his life back. Accidents like that can really leave you in a bad way.
