Fun with Uniglide freehubs

I tell you - provided you have some un-worn Uniglide cogs about, these things can be loads of fun:

Had to flip one of these cogs around to remedy a minor skipping issue, and when removing the cassette, found that there was an extra spacer installed past the last cog. Apparently, this hub is one of the later hybrids allowing for both Uniglide/Hyperglide installation (Shimano 105), and is designed to accept 7 cogs (and would most likely accept an 8-speed HG cassette or an 8-speed UG cluster with the right amount of spacers too).

Ended up yanking out my box of spare Uniglide cogs, dug up something that would work, then re-assembled the freewheel. Ended up adding a 1mm spacer inboard so the Campagnolo Victory RD could shift up the entire cluster, replaced the spacer to the largest cog with a spacer off a 7-speed Hyperglide cassette, and re-built the hub otherwise as it came out, with exception of the additional cog (the black cog and darker spacer), and a few cogs reversed in direction.

Couldn't ask for a more versatile design. If only you could find more of these cogs in a usable state.
