When I talked to one LBS they were pushing a hybrid, even though I wanted an entry level road bike. I finally gave up on the TREK stores and talked to someone else that actually listened to what "I" wanted. Now I have my road bike, and I can do some decent rides on it. I also bought a comfort bike for my wife as that is what she wanted, so I had to buy a slow comfort bike for me also, when I really should have just bought a entry level mountain bike.
