I rethreaded it so that the stap
only passes through the serated edge (no re-tucking at all) and it does exactly what you say... Its easy to pull up and tighten and easy to loosen by pressing that serated part. The only thing is now it looks wrong. It's looks free to flap in the wind and does not look buckled and tidy like the straps in the above post. I'll just live with it being in one position until I get new ones with a buckle that works better (like on some toshis).
My buckles are not the same as those above ^ .
