Bikes: Specialized Roubaix - previously Bianchi Venice (pictured above)

Many routes here are flat, flat, flat (did I say they're flat?). That's good advice. Interestingly, hard braking was the first thing that caused discomfort last year after a broken clavicle healed (8 weeks off bike). I'll watch that.

just be careful the first few times back out. I found that there were a few places that I didn't really think of as tricky that actually gave me some problems when I didn't have my normal strength or range of motion.

I think we tend to take for granted how much we really use our shoulders to handle our bikes, so I had a couple surprises.

Like I said earlier, braking on a downhill I never thought of as a big deal, but this spring I just couldn't do it. I had no strength in the front of my shoulder at all.

So be careful and try and pick out a place that is overly safe for your maiden voyage until you know what you can and can't expect to do.
