Can I ask about your particular build? You tossed out $300 as a base figure, but as noted, Deep V's don't come as part of a pre-built set. That seems to imply paying full MSRP for components. In my research (albeit limited), the cost of moderate quality (e.g. Ultegra) hubs, 60+ spokes, and labor quickly pushes total cost > $500. Close to $600 at my LBS.
