Another 925 gloat....

Found a dealer about a month back selling Redline 925's. It's been eating on me for a while now and today after dropping of a road bike at a consignment store I stopped by to have a look, kick the tires and maybe get a test ride.

Well I guess you can fill in the rest from the title. It's enough better than my old SS conversion that it ended up in the back of my truck following me home.

The parts box upgrades have already started. I happened to have a Race Face forged crankset in 170 and a 44T ring So on those went. And so did a set of Cane Creek levers I got a while back off Ebay to try out the old Norco SS with bullhorns that still have not arrived at the LBS yet. And swapping the cables around for front brake on the right to harmonize with all the motorcycles. I'm not smart enough to keep the fronts all sorted when I jump back and forth....

The test ride I just came back from shows that the 44T is perfect. I found the 42 it came stock with to be a touch "spinny" compared to my SS conversion I've been riding for about 8 years now. With the 44 I'm finding it climbs slight to moderate hills like a cat up a tree after a squirrel.

It's replacing an old early 90's vintage Norco steelie made from Tange 5 tubing. The new ride is definetly better but not by a WHOLE lot but I guess this is the year to upgrade.

One thing I didn't like is the chain tugs that Redline used. They just don't have much range and are a pain to adjust all around with the plate flopping all over the place.

Any suggestions on upgrades? Or since I'll only be using this as an SS rather than fixed do I even NEED tugs?
