i did the same thing a few years ago....thule roof rack with carbon fork. The fork snapped but the roof rack tray stayed put with the dropouts in place. I still have two dimples in the siding above my garage where the brifters hit.

If the force was able to pull off the rack, that fork must of absorbed a huge impact -- I won't take a chance riding that fork again if it's carbon.
