Hang in there! It will get better! I was slammed into my right side in April of 2006 by an SUV causing sever tib fib break, spinal compression, bone bruise, and various cuts and bruises. My break didn't heal after 3 months (it's called a non-union). They had to remove all the metal, do a bone graft out of my femur and put all the hardware back in (18" rod, 6" plate, various screws).
The recovery ranged from terrible pain and being on crutches for 7 months to depression from, well, all the sh#t that goes with the recovery. I am back on the bike, and strength training, but my right leg still hasn't gained back all the strength it lost. Now, I could probaby be doing more isolated strength training.
But I did complete the Mountains of Misery challenge century this year, so I am proud of that. Hang in there - the mental recovery can be harder than the physical recovery. Recovering from bone injuries can take a long time - but - the body has an amazing ability to recover. Once you can really start training again I'll bet you get it back fast.
My biggest problem now is fear. Fear of cars, trucks, intersections, riding in traffic. It's something I'll probably deal with the rest of my life.
Hang in there and PM me if you want more details or to talk.
