Try to stay positive, make it a challenge to yourself to set and reach even small goals. I've had four shoulder surgeries and three cervical fusions, along with pneumonia, etc, which have led to repeated lapses in riding during recovery. I just try to set small goals, like ride for an hour, then ride for 1 1/2 hours, ride certain rides that are harder and harder. I also try not to get too frustrated when I can't complete things as fast as I would like to. Best of luck to you, don't let it get you down; if you do it right, the riding will hurt more than the original pain!
