This isn't another first race report.
just joshing. it is.
Shreve Challenge.
This was my first REAL race. An actual USCF held event. I woke up tired as a bird, and went to eat a delicious cinnamon crunch bagel from panera before I travelled down 71. Signed up for my 1-day license and then cruised the town waiting for the start. The butterflies were there and I didn't know what to expect. I did have a goal of finishing the race in one piece, and to have fun-my goals were reached and exceeded. The first 2 loops were pretty easy going the pack stuck together, no real incidents.
On the final lap with the big hill climb 2 riders took off the front. I decided to climb a little quicker to see if its worth going to chase them or to stay with the back. Patience wouldn't let me wait and my legs were feeling strong- so I go after them, and we get a 4 man chase trying to catch these guys. In the final 1/2 mile I attacked off of the 4 man chase group to try and catch the other 2 guys- didn't work out. But, I finished in 3rd place out of 32. I was very happy with the results of my first race and had a blast! And now that the butterflies are gone, I want to do some more!
