I use one of the Crank Bros speedlevers to mount/dismount tires and I've never had any sort of a problem getting even tough to fit tires onto a rim. The lever mounts the tire similar to how a machine mounts a car tire.. it goes around the outside of the rim pushing the bead of the tire over the rim as it goes. Takes seconds to both install and remove a tire. I keep one in my saddlebag because I'm so spoiled by it that I couldn't even think of using standard levers anymore. Plus they're cheap!! at around $6, and you only need one.
