Yeah, I believe they're original. We purchased the bike last year as well and the bike looked hardly used and must have been kept in storage as there was no rust at all. Since purchase, she has probably put only a few hundred miles and the shifters are still in working order (however, we don't shift very much living in Houston due to extremely flat terrain).
