um, no, to put the tire on, you use that side, to take off, you use the other side and lift and pry. Try it yourself and you will see how much easier it is to mount a tire. With the tire lever position as I have it in the picture, push the entire lever forward and the wedge shape pushes the tire over the rim without any prying.
