My daughter and I did a bit of trash-picking the other day and are now the proud owners of a April 26th 1984, Schwinn World. The components are trash and the frame will require a bit of corrosion treatment along with a new bottom bracket.

Here's the question:

To build this into a reliable and fun to ride neighborhood bicycle, what's a good source of wheels, cranks, seats, etc??

I was thinking about trying to come up with a set of used Shimano 105's. Any suggestions? we're not looking to restore this with original stuff - what would you do, given the year and frame?
