From: I am currently playing 2 months on the national tour of Annie, and starting Feb '10 will be playing 18 months on the national tour of Beauty and the Beast; my stuff lives in a storage unit in Northridge, CA and at a buddy's house in Cedar City, UT :)

Unless they are nearly or totally vertical, I don't see why oboeterry can't just use something like a Surly tuggnut.

However, oboeterry, you are looking at about $300 to do the conversion. I swapped out my 3 speed internal hub for an 8 speed and that's about what I ended up spending in the end. I really really do love the 8 speed hub though. It was worth it for me, but wouldn't be for everyone.
Unfortunately, I just checked the dropouts (after showing it to a biking friend to figure out what they were ) and they are indeed, vertical; so I'm guessing the tuggnut thing you mentioned probably won't work :-/ Thanks for trying, though!
