Raise your bars so the highest portion of the bars is level with the saddle (the standard bar position for recreational cyclists from 1900 to 1980). That will enable you to keep your pelvis upright, with your weight on the widest part of the sit bones. Your sit bones may get sore, but the "soft bits" will be fine.
