That's what I do. They are not too heavy to carry along with you either, if wearing the same shoes more than once a week is not an option.
I also just leave a pair of shoes at work that I change into, or carry them with me when necessary. I don't want to think about how sweaty your feet would get biking in dress shoes. I have a pair of normal-looking, spd compatible shoes, but I only wear them around when running errands on my bike.
