Years ago you could get a cobbler to install cleats into your leather-soled shoes for longer touring rides. I don't know if it's still done nowadays. It may not be a good idea to cycle in fancy dress shoes without taking proper care with good polishing, using cedar shoe trees to absorb moisture and never wearing the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Those are the basics for just wearing them, but for cycling in them I'm clueless....
