I like a fixed gear for commuting due to its simplicity of maintenance, and the fact that I don't want to lock up an expensive road bike... and frankly it is more "fun" riding fixed.
What I was alluding to was if you're in traffic (sorry I was being biased with that assumption since I was talking from riding in a crowded city POV), you will have better control of the bike because you don't have to constantly be right on your brakes since you can control your speed just with your legs. I agree it is much easier to draft and go down a hill along with getting faster speeds on a road bike. It isn't hard at all to control a road bike, but when I do riding in the city with it, I miss having the ability to control my speed w/o a brake all the time.

but yes fixed is definitely more fun to ride
