My earliest bicycling memory was riding our bikes into the lake on the boat launching ramp and trying to keep pedaling as long as we could underwater, which wasn't long. Years later we'd perform destruction derbys with our balloon tired bikes, smashing into each other. When the forks got bent we'd just spin them in the frame and smash again to bend them back. I have a memory of helping another kid strip the fenders and gas tank off his bike so it would look "modern".
