Hmm...I might try using tubes instead of bungees on my tour this summer. I'm not sure if it would be worth the hassle of tying/untying them each time I needed to unload the sleeping bag and mat, but it seems like an interesting idea for no other reason than the fact that I can.
More ideas, please!
